Hey guys so I noticed the other day that at about 25-30 mph I get a weird squeal from the front passenger side wheel or so it seems that is where. It also seems to get louder the faster you go and goes away under about 25 mph. It almost sounds like a squealing belt. Is that a bad wheel bearing? Is it hard to change out?

 

Could be... Or it might be the vehicle is out of alignment...

 

What is mounted on that side of the engine? Alternator or power steering pump.
If it doesn't squeal just gunning the engine while not moving, it's probably not
a belt unless you have a leak. Then again belts don't squeal when wet, that's
how you test serpentine setups for slippage. Check you belts for glazing, cracking
or separation. If not a belt it's most certainly a bearing or brake issue. Bearings
are an easy change, preloading the bearings requires the right procedure and specs.
Too tight and you ruin everything you've done, too loose and it'll feel like the

Yeah I know it's not a belt and I'm sure it's a bad wheel bearing. I might leave this job to the professionals. If I replace the bad one is it smart to replace the other front wheel bearing at the same time? I mean if one wore out I'm sure other would be just about the same.

 

They're cheap enough and it's an easy job, I'd do them both.

 

Not sure if you have done brake work lately...if so, your backer plate may be touching the rotor and causing a squeal....just a thought...
