Sway bar link removal
Sway bar link removal
Number one in the picture. This set-up is out of a 68 Chrysler New Port.
My question is, how do I remove this link from the bar. I have an interested party, and don't want to damage anything. I just don't see a direct way without cutting out the rubber and then how would it be replaced.
Thax all for any and all responses.

If you mean how to remove #1 then most of them have a bolt but yours seems not too. The bottom pieces may be spot welded to gether. If you can locate the spot welds you can drill them out and or use an air chisel to break the two halves apart.

The buyer has a rebuld kit. So yep, new Poly bushings. The rubber has no give, maybe cause it is old. The bar end is a bit bigger than the outer diameter of the bar itself. I tried to slide it but no go, thought about burning it off but didn't realy want to stink up the place burning the rubber bushing. I would think a hammer would destroy the link.
The spot weld sounds easy enough though.
Thanks any ways.

As I understand it the kit just supplies the bushings. Not sure though.
Any way it turns out the spot weld was way to big to drill out. It would not have enough metal left for a bolt to grab.
Notice the big spot weld on the link in the photo.
So what I did was drill out the hard rubber and cut the lip off with a hack saw. Viola came right off.
Hope this might help someone, some day.
Thanks all for the help.

oh if you burn out the old youll probably never get the new in without damaging it you need a two piece link and with new poly bushings the new links would be a plus that old rusty nut holding on a new poly system once the pressure starts it could snap
