Brake light problem

The weather was nice enough out today so I took a cruise along the river today. Not many of these days left before they start dumping salt and brine on the roads. Anyway as I was backing into the barn, I noticed the left brake light out. The turn signal worked(same bulb/same element) but brake did not. Right side works fine. I have not had a chance to do much investigating or dig out the schematic. Has anyone run into this before.

If the turn signal works on both sides and only one brake works, there is only one possible answer---you need a new column signal switch.
