No-PAweR

Hello, Im new to the Mopar Forum and fairly new to Mopars. I bought a 73 charger ten years back and have finally been able to work on it. Its got the stock 318 and carter carburetor but previous owner(s) switched it over to a manuel 3-speed. I just did the front end (fun!) and put in a new timing chain.

As I've dug deep, I have noticed lots of rigging that's gone on over the life of this car. The ignition was just redone, but just the other day it wasn't sending power to the starter (gauges and lights worked though). Under the dash started smoking. It later started. It was running fine these last few days until this morning. Now when the key is turned, no power is sent any where. No gauges, and no lights.

I found the cooked wire under the dash. It's black with a yellow strip. It bridges of to an old brown/slim/rectangle female plug (no male plug near or visible). A 20A fuses is also blown. Could it be the new ignition I had done? Any one had similar occurrence?

When you turn on your key does the amp guage change. You might have burned it up and fried a fusible link. Use the following links to wiring diagrams for your car.
