Starter problems

I have a 1966 Plymouth Fury III and I think my starter is slipping(Ive never had this problem before so I don't know). While I try to turn the car over it will stop and the starter starts making a loud humming sound and I will have to wait for the starter to stop before I can start turning it over again. does that sound about like a slipping starter?

Sounds like The starter clutch is worn, It can be replaces separately- I would just get a rebuilt starter. If you need numbers matching, find someone local to rebuild yours

or go buy a rebuilt starter and use it to rebuild your starter depending on which way would be cheaper.

No one around here has a starter clutch(or a rebuild kit for that matter) so I will just have to get a reman.
