1977 van rain gutter repair
1977 van rain gutter repair
I have a 77 maxi, a 77 long wheel base and a short wheel base 77 parts van.
I am having a problem with the rain gutter over the rear door leaking.
What is the best sealer to use to seal between the gutter and the roof?
It has rust on the roof up about 1/4 - 1/2" above the gutter.
I am thinking that a POR primer would fix that. It is rust, not rot.
The leak needs to be stopped, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Body Seam Sealer for sealing the seam... You can get that from Eastwood.... Not sure how much your going to reseal? All or just part.....
AS for the rust area.... It doesn't sound like your doing a large area? Not sure if you care to much about the cosmetics or looks? But it your not going to the body shop, or looking for perfection....
I would just grind the area needed to be repaired.... Shoot it with some rust converter sealer paint and let that dry for a day or so.... Then J.B.Weld the bad spot and grind it down and feather it in the best you can and primer and paint with a high-gloss enamel.... After that you can paint it a flat color if you choose..... The other option is pick up a small Fiberglass Kit... They work good as well...
Hope that is somewhat what you where looking to get as for info..... Keep up posted.... Looks like you have been a member here for awhile... Cheers
