Upholstery - Seats

I called a local guy on re-doing the seats for my '72 Duster, two bucket and rear bench. They need new foam and I asked them to be done in marine grade vinyl. One bucket and the bench, black only, the driver black with a limelight green stripe. He told me it would be around $1800 just for the foam and another $1000 for the vinyl. Is this guy a whack job, or is that the going rate now?

Marine grade is expensive not needed. Maybe if it was a convertible ... I would check with YearOne for the upholstery and foam

Agree with TVLynn.
You can get new foam and covers, legendary (among others) makes some really nice covers.
Redoing your own seats can be a daunting idea for some, but it's really not that hard to do.
