1973 Dodge Dart big block Chevy
Hello,
I am getting ready to put a Big Block Chevy in a 1973 Dodge Dart. Has anyone ever seen this done? Not really a mopar guy, but it's for a friend.
Thanks

If it makes you feel better I have a 69 Charger with a 512ci (Mopar 400 base) with an F1 procharger.

Anything is posible with enought time and money.
No offence cam, but you came to the wrong place to ask this question. I understand that C#*$Y parts are cheaper and more plentyful but the people that are here are die hard Mopar people. They last person that asked a question like this pretty much got castraded.

Nah, he's a chevy guy. Putting that engine in there is easy.
First the power steering swap:
Step one: open the hood
Step two: find knife or other sharp object and cut the belt going to the power steering pump.
Easy! No more power steering. Now it is manual steering!
I told you this was going to be easy!
Now the power brakes,
Step one: Assuming the hood is still open from the steering conversion, this will be easy. Find the hose going to the power brake booster and use the same tool used previously to convert the steering, cut the hose to the brake booster.
See even easier than the steering!
Remember, this modification can be easily un-done if someone would want to make the car original again.
Some may say that I never told him to plug the vacuum hose going to the booster. This will create a Vacuum leak, but no worries, he is putting in a Chevy engine and you will never be able to tell if it is running worse or not.
I am glad I could be of so much help. If you need any more help on a swap like this, be sure to visit my site www.Crazy4Carz.Com there are many more smart asses there willing to help screw up a car like you are doing.
Good luck.

Why would you implant a chevy block into a dart? I mean yes it is different but not new! Well maybe nobody ever put a BBC in a 73 dart but something similar SBC into a 74 roadrunner or so. And yes it's probably cheaper. But it takes all the fun away!

Why not? We have the car, and a 468ci BBC that's been some low 10's in a Chevy. Why not be different? Why be like all the other 73 Darts sporting a SB mopar.
Why are most mopar guys so scared of this? Like I said before a mopar in a chevy doesn't bother me at all, shi! I would do it.
Maybe that should be my next project. Find a mopar guy with to much money that likes the look a of camaro and put a mopar in it.
This guy has owned the car for 15years, been through a half dozen SB mopar powerplants and never go out of the 11's. You all know what it cost to put a SB mopar powerplant in the low 10's and it's a lot more than a chevy.

Well not all Dart are created equall my Dads Dart has a 440 going into it and I also know plenty other 70 and up darts that have BBM and hemis in them.
By the way we are all just jiving you, where in michigan are you from?

It honestly doesn't bother me. I just get a kick out of being an A-Hole sometimes, and I thought it would be funny.
Sadly nearly all top fuel cars, funny cars, etc, run Hemi engines. They wear Chevy or other badges on the outside but are all running Hemis on the inside. I am a purist and like to keep fords all fords and Mopars all Mopar etc...
I guess what bothers me most is the misconseption that building a Mopar engine cost so much more than a chevy engine. That is just not true. If you are building a real competition engine (Not just some roach to take to the local cruise night) Big Block chebbie parts can run big money. The difference is, nobody makes cheap crap Mopar stuff.
Sadly when these cross-branded cars are done they are not usually worth anywhere near the investment, and are often not welcome at either camp. That chevy powered Mopar isn't going to be able to partcipate at Super chevy, nor is it welcome at the Mopar nationals. It's your car, build it however you like. Enjoy it it's your mess.

Were in flint, mi.
I know mopars parts and there cost (BB mopar stuff). I have a 69 Charger sitting here also with a mopar 400 base 512 in it. I don't dislike them, they are cool.
I'm just more open minded than you die hard mopar guy's
