1976-1978 heater valve?

I know, I know I don't have a Dodge, but I have a Dodge AC system. Can someone describe the difference to me in the one heater valve (for 1976-1979 Charger, etc) that has two full pipes (four connections) and the other that has one pipe? (two connections).

See my video.

Thanks all!

I know with the 2 barb valve it dead heads, stopping all (or most) flow when closed. Simple ball valve.

The 4 barb valve shown in the video I believe is a "bypass" or "diverter" type valve. As you "close" the value, coolant is diverted back to the engine thus allowing flow but, bypassing the heater core. But, thats just a guess.

Not sure what the pros and cons are other than number of connections.
