What are your plans for the car? I have a small block planned for my '68...

I'm surprised no-one is suggesting Year-One. Their prices are a little high but they seen to have everything. If you take advantage of the discounts they offer (club memberships etc) and price matching they do OK. I have spent a ton with them over the years.

If you can find a donor car, a 73-76 V8 A-Body with disc brakes and power steering will solve your problems. Depending on how radical you are planing to make the 440, swap the rear out for an 8.75 ( mild ) , or Dana 60 ( wild ). Power Steering MIGHT not work with a big block tho. ( I'm going manual steering in mine ). Schumacher has the conversion mounts for about $160. They also make what are reportedly well fitting headers. Mancinin Racing is also a good place for conversion parts.
Good luck with the build.

With the $ you are talking about throwing around I might look into a tubular k-frame with a rack and pinion steering set-up. Probably wouldnt even notice the lack of power steering with that.

I completely forgot about that option. With a R&P you CAN have power steering, IIRC.
The AlterKation KFrame is what is considered the best. Kinda spendy, but from what I have read, well worth the investment.
