Grinding Noise From Heater Fan ?

The smoke and grinding noise are obviously not related. First the grinding noise, There is **** in your blower motor. Could be just leaves and debris or could be a mouse nest. Just clean it out and you'll be fine. Likely not a bad fan motor.

Second the smoke, I guessing the rings are not sealing. Drive it a little and see if it clears up. If the smoke is bad or gets worse, STOP.
