Hey guys. the defogger in my dart barely works. when i switch the control to defog, it still mostly blows from the heater and only dribbles from the top. i have the setup with the factory air. any suggestions? thanks!

The dampers that direct the air are controlled by vacuum. Check to be sure the vacuum is connected as it should be. This will also cause a rough idle and poor running conditions if the vacuum leak is inside the car.

hey thanks for the response. I do see a vacuum connection by heater closest to the driver's side. Its a green and yellow hose, and it's connected. Is there a way to test it?

thanks!

Depending on the year, and with or without air conditioning there should be three hoses coming through a small gromet on the firewall. check to be sure these are connected. Also there are duct hoses (about an inch and a half diameter) that go from the box to the dash vents. These often deteriorate. Check those as well. With the car OUTSIDE and WELL VENTILATED start the car and run the fan on high with the defroster set and with your head under the dash feel around for air blowing and you may find a leak.

I stress OUTSIDE and VENTILATED because I carelessly ran the car in the garage once and nearly made a HUGE mistake. Sometimes we don't think, and a brief moment of carelessness can be catastrophic. Be careful while working in the garage.

thanks a million! I dislocated my knee a few days ago, so I'm not really out and about yet, but I'll let you know how this goes once I'm able to check it out :-)
