New Guy Question

Hello, I just bought a 1970 Dart Custom with maunal drum brakes the whole way around. Anyone have any suggestions to get more out of the brake system without having to upgrade to discs? Can a booster be added without too much modification? This is going to be a cruiser for me and my 3 year son and wife and I want to stop a little quicker than I do right now.

Upgrade to disks, drum brakes are outdated you can upgrade using the aftermarket kits or finding donor parts from other mopars i don't know which ones but it can be done. I went with an aftermarket kit bolted in with a few mods works great, every early project i do i convert to disk on the front much safer and dependable. That's my 2 cents worth.

you can upgrade to power brakes this will provide less pedal effort but not much increase in stopping distance. Disk are the way to go, but if you would like to swap to power only, just add the brake booster, prop valve, and pedal pushrod.

Thanks for the follow up guys.
Any suggestions on where a front disc brake kit can be purchased at a good price?
How about a complete power booster / prop valve / pushrod set up?

On my early a body car i took the spindles and discs off a 73-74 A body. If you want to stay with the small bolt pattern (if your car has it) you could try to find the same from a car that had discs pretty hard to find though.
