Power to Manual steering

so i wanna change over to manual steerirng. a buddy of mine has a manual box from a 1970 challenger and from what i can find it will fit in my 74 duster. he also has the coupling from the steering shaft to the box. anything else i will need for the swap like pitman arm or any other kind of coupling thingy? thanks ahead of time.

You need the manual box, and either an adapter on the steering column, or a rod out of a manual steering car that you'll put into your power steering column.

The adapters are about $150

thanks blue. any idea where i could get the adapter? or would the one from his car work on mine?

I'm not sure about that. The splines may be different.. Make sure you count the splines on the e-body box and your a-body box. One off, won't work.

I'll try to find a link for the one i got

thanks blue i appreciate it. and drt i really like the feel of manual. plus my power leaks like a bp oil rig and if driven manual cars before. i feels more responsive and since i don't drive my car everyday its not a big deal.

Firm feel has the adapter.

ok im also wanting to change over to manual. I have a 1964 belvedere with power steering and I want to change over to manual. where's the best place to get a box and the adapter.

It sounds like you have all the needed parts The coupling (adapter) the box should fit fine. Splines are the same after 68 ??? . YOU will not like the change The stock manual box takes forever to turn. It is NLA but they used to offer a quick ratio manual box. I would check with Firm feel to see what is available.
For wayback64 the steering box would have the smaller spline pitman arm so that would need to be changed too!

Some of the manual boxes (later) have a larger spline on the pitman shaft. Make sure you get the correct one.

The column shaft is a different length so you'll need an aftermarket coupler for that purpose, or change the column shaft.
