Roof Fix, best way of going about

I just got myself a 72' Demon, for the most part body is in pretty good condition except for a few rusted area's. I'm looking at putting new vinyl on the roof but theres this one part thats stopping me. Should I just go around find a parts vehicle cut this out you think I could get a piece of metal fabricated to fit it. I'm from Northern BC, Canada so I don't have much to work with up here. Also anyone know any good places to order parts that deliver or based outta Canada? Any help would be great.

thats the problem with vinyl and plastic bed lines they hold moister. if thats the only bad spot i would just cut it out and weld a piece in place. when you weld in a new piece stitch weld it in a half inch here half inch there allowing it to cool betwen welds or you will just end up warping iy.

If you can't find a patch panel from a donor car, I'd try to fabricate a new one. The appearance isn't too important if you install a new vinyl top, just try to get it flat. Auto Metal Direct has full size quarter panels that cover the area of the C pillar where you have rust, but they are around 500 dollars and you wouldn't use very much of it. Check around and see if anyone else sells panels for that area: Google, eBay, etc.

if your going to keep a viynl top ur in good shape cuz you can fudge your way through the roof and you wont be able to see it, sand down the area real good and then see what your dealing with lucky for you, you have 6 years and 3 types of cars that all use the same roof 1973-1976 dart sports 1970-1976 dusters and 1971-1972 demons find the piece you need cut it so you have the same shape weld it in and filler up then cover her up with a nice new BLACK top and no one will ever knowwwwwwwww

Harbor freight (and some other hardware stores as well) sell a contour gauge. It is basically a bunch of "pins" held together in a line. You press it against the roof and it shows the contour. The patch panel does not need to come from the exact same roof. You may find a similar contour body panel on a 85 Buick wagon, or a Ford van, maybe the quarter on a Volare' wagon. You get the idea. Go to a scrap yard and get creative. Steel is steel, it doesn't matter what it comes off of.
