Welcome to the forums.

Did you just pull the old one out and put the new one in? Was the old one points? Did you recheck the timing?

if you can give us a link to the exact dizzy you installed, we can probably tell you what you need to do or where to start.

which one did you install? there are 6 to choose from.

what motor do you have? have you checked to see if your coil is putting out spark? do you have power going to the coil? is the rotor installed in the cap? is the dizzy spinning when the motor is being turned over?

i found the kit we installed sum-850003 this is a summit unit with the orange box. we also installed a accel ignition coil superstock.

do you have power getting to the coil? do you have spark coming out of the coil?

if you can tell us how you connected together the harnes that comes in the kit have the same color coded wires as factory units should have example black/yellow tracer , gray/black tracer etc etc on the electronic box it should have a plug like this
1
2 3
4 5 with a screw in the middle if you could tell us where you ran the wires too and we can cross refrence it for you also another thing to check could be the voltage reg i think they changed them in 72 when they went to electronic ignition plus are you using the 4 pin or 2 pin ballast resistor? either way will work but you can hook it up the 2 pin way

ef8340 10-02-2008 04:58 PM

argh the pin didnt show right anyhow you should get the idea
goodluck

yes there is power going to the coil but no spark coming out of the coil. and is it's 340 motor.

1969dart 10-02-2008 05:49 PM

i have the two pin ballast resistor/ i have not check the voltage reg.

have you tried it with the stock coil? I have heard of brand new coils not throwing out any spark.
