1949 Chrysler windsor reverse issue

Hey guys, i have a very strange issue with my 1949 chrysler windsor, for some reason when i shift into reverse the car just goes forward and i am very confused as to why this is. Any suggestions or ideas to why? Thanks in advanced.

Are you sure the shifter linkage is doing its job moving the appropriate lever on the transmission the full amount?

Sounds like your not pulling the lever up towards the steering wheel enough...… Your only catching first gear
