1972 Viper Charger
Here it is ladies and gentlemen, 1972 Charger, Premium optioned, 29,293 original miles. Originally a 400ci 2 bbl, console shifter car, with black buckets.
So, I have since brought it home from Mount Clemens Michigan, stripped it down, and have my bearings set to where I want to be, and when (Deadlines make me work harder)
I have all kinds of free time (Single, no kids, live at home), and have access to a gigantic variety of tools (Which I've purchased over 10 years), the only issue being... Financial..
So, Here it is when I bought it, imagine 3' of snow..
When I got it home
Cleaned out the left over sand from previous owner getting it sand blasted.. I was worried the barn cats would leave me.... Presents..
Removing bondo/Fiberglass/paint/primer from drivers quarter, also to see what I had to deal with, had some spots that sounded.. Thick when I was looking at it, thank god it was solid.
And as of 45 minutes ago, glass is out, body panels are off, time to start removing the rest of the paint..

After doing some careful measurements, and the jaw dropping cost of a TKO 600 swap into this car, we've decided on a new engine, we're going to grab a Gen II or III Viper V10, it should fit with modification to the K-member (Tubular), and moving the rad cradle forward three inches..

Had the car blasted (Not the body itself,)
Small pin holes in the floor, door jambs and firewall are clean ( I stripped most of it chemically before)
Found a local guy who is a dealer for Moser in Ontario, he's figuring out a Dana 60 to replace my 8 1/4, 3.54 gear, True Trac, with disk brakes..
Engine? Still waiting to sell the other hot rod before we can buy that.. I ordered SFC's, so I can weld those in while everything is clean.

Some progress since this point.. Frame connectors are in, Kmember is in the car to test fit engine, trans tunnel is cut, and fits T-56..
Trans cross member (Above, connecting frame rail to frame rail) is finished..
Floor pan is welded in (Then cut to fit the SFC's,) new rocker panel is on, still more welding to do..
Haven't updated much.. In the garage..

Removed the motor mounts from the QA1 K-member, welded in new filler plates where they were.
Had to modify where the shifter came up in the trans tunnel, we had to move the engine back an extra inch, in order to have it sit level. The Oil filter will end up in between the two tubes of the K-member, and the flat oil pan allows lots of room..
If you want to ever put a 8.3 into a late model 71-74 B-body, it's definitely no issue when it comes to real estate, there's still a ton of room for headers, but you have to switch to Rack and Pinion..
Aside from those things, it's a nice little project.
Still have to modify some transmission cross member things.. And move it back at least another inch, but it's the way I want it to sit, anyway..

It's in, under it's own weight, on it's custom motor mounts
Still awaiting an Energy Suspension T-56 Transmission mount, before I can fab up the cross member, it's nice to see progress every now and then..
Wiring harness, and computer have been found, from Arrow Racing in Michigan, so as soon as this baby has the floor/Firewall and engine bay painted, we can start getting her running!

Had to get everything assembled for exhaust... Rough body work is finished, and it's in 2k prime. Some developments..
Hydroboost brakes, Rack and pinion, Viper clutch master cylinder with custom bracket, rebuilt '72 Steering column, 8 3/4 rear end with 489 Case, 3.73 gears and a sure grip.
Picked a colour, 2014 SRT 8 Challenger 'Plum Crazy Pearl'

Wow.. haven't posted here in ages..
Where should I begin?!
Found a set of '72 Ralleye doors in the fall, $650 for the set and they were spectacular.. Had a nice gentleman email me from Chicago with a '72 Ralleye hood.. Went and picked it up last weekend..
Exhaust is done, headers are done.. Steering is figured out, ECU and Harness for the V10 is complete, figured out the fuel system, and the body work is completely done on the quarters, doors, and fenders. So I'm just getting ready to take it all back apart and paint underneath!
Here it is on the wheels, decent ride height so far!
The doors after stripping them
Test fitting panels when I first picked them up.. They have since been repaired.. Poly spray, and finish primed..
