Intake Manifolds
On my Volare I have used three intakes, first was a Weiand team G (mid to late 80s) next was a Mopar M1 (from 1992) and a Edelbrock Victor. Now I had dynode my 452 a year before my 500 and I ran it with the M1 first, made all the pulls, tuned and was happy with it then we put the old Weiand Team G on the 452. Now I new there was a 50 hp gain when I put the M1 on but I was not expecting what happen, the Weiand was 80 HP DOWN and did not have a predicable curve, torque or horsepower. It was JUNK!!!! No wonder I was never happy with the 452. So when I ran the 500 I started with the M1 and then went to the Victor, the M1 made a few more points in torque and the Victor made a few more in HP, so slight I'm not sure the differences would mater. My personal preference is the victor just on looks alone.:)
My dare to be different side says I would like to find a tunnel ram and build a pair of thermal quads for it, but I run e85, oh well. |

It's always been nice for me to have Shane Studley from ( Percision Cylinder Heads) rite in my back yard... Awesome Mopar head Porter... :)
But at any rate Tom. It is always great when you can do-it-yourself and have good result's, I have always been an underdog. But when you win it's great feeling... :) Hope you get going and go many rounds.... Just take lot's of seat time..... Get out and knock the rust off.... :) It's been nice trading emails on this and my Ford lately, My buddy's at Grawmondbeck's Competition Engines in Mason City have gotten used to my odd combination's working. They have hands on my stuff, Joe built my little Ford and Stacey finds the last bit of HP on the engine dyno, Steve does the heads and runs the M/SA car. Stacey was a sprint car racer that even had Mopar as sponsor for a year and ran B motors, he has a story of blowing up a 400 block to the point that the bottom half of ALL the cylinders were gone with the cam and the bottom of the block! |
Talking about knocking the rust off, I would like to team up with a driver, I enjoy building and tuning.

Thanks Bob,

Oh Ya.... I remember you telling me that, I did do a little research on them... Sounds like a good group of guys. :) I agree, It has been nice to E-Mail chat with you about your projects. You just never know when you are going to come up with a good Idea someone mentions.... :) :) Good Times... Thanks... Keep me posted... :) |

My idea of a driver is 150 lbs Bob, it's not me! I'd slow the car down a tenth.:)

E-85
Once we had an idea of the compression ,I had forgotten, the heads with the new valves and a small cut plus a trim around the intake wall were 67cc good for 12.5 to 1 and e-85. I picked up a Holley XP 950 E-85, not something you what to do every day$. Stacey had been filling my head about how great it is, now I new how corrosive alcohol fuel is from working at an excavation co. and having to repair equipment. I also new about the H2o absorption and how it didn't store. But I now the cost of race gas and how much of a pig this combination is and I do intend on street driving it!
And just like the video my carb was dead on out of the box. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/h...5hbx/overview/ |

All I can say about the fuel system..... Is.... They both have Pro's and Con's.. Both take work to fund...lol
|
It's going to be one big plastic fuel cell in the trunk!!!!
I have quick fuel pump and return regulator on the Ford but I doubt the 500 would return much. |
