Modern 8 speed auto transmission for my 72 Dodge pickemup?

Has anyone heard of or looked into adapting a modern OD transmission to a 400 or 440? If looking at doing something to add gears. I am looking at gear venders, but I recently rented a Charger with a hemi with an 8 spd. Anyone know if it's possible to adapt one the an old big block Mopar?????

Is there an adapter?

So, it's the same as a 904?
are there adapters? And the final question is do they work without a computer?

The drag race crowd use 904 guts in the 727 case. This is for a reduction in parasitic power loss.

The late trans are all computer controlled.. I would suspect the 8 speed is no different. SO you would need some type of computer and all the sensors. The speedo for one is driven off the rear end tone ring on the diff ring gear
