1977 M880 steering

Good Afternoon . I have a 1977 Dodge M880 3/4 ton pickup 318 , auto trans. 4WD . The truck has manual steering and I am in the process of converting it to power steering. I obtained a complete power steering setup ( box , pump and all brackets and hardware from a 1979 W200. The power steering box from the 1979 W200 rotates in the opposite direction ( when steering wheel is turned to the left , wheels turn to the right and vice versa ). Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated . Thanks , Brock

Hello

Here is an excellent write up on this subject here: https://www.mopartruckparts.com/tech/t018.html

I did this conversion to one of my M880s about six years ago. I sourced most of my parts from Joe Leonard of Mopar Truck Parts. At the time I bought his last good steering gear, the alternative was a core to have rebuilt by Red-Head Steering Gears. So, I would definitely get in contact with Joe.

A few highlights:
Dodge trucks were provided with two different style steering setups from 1972 to 1993. The non-typical 1972-1977 style has distinct advantages for those looking to do such modifications as larger tires and lifts up to 3", especially on diesel trucks that have a lot more weight on the front end.
-Non-typical steering box is 13/16 input 32 spline plus or minus a few depending on the flat spot. This steering box is reversed rotation, do not use a standard rotation steering box.
When getting this setup from a junkyard, you will need to get the steering shaft, steering box mounting bracket, steering box, pitman arm, drag link, power steering hoses (and the high pressure fitting from the back of the power steering pump if you are converting a diesel setup).
