I am new to the forum and just picked up a 1988 D100 with the 3.9/Auto trans. The vehicle was a family member's truck, and I am going to restore it with my son. The engine and trans need to be rebuilt, but I was wondering if the newer generation 3.9 Magnum engines (1992+) are compatible with the truck? I am not looking for anything wild, just want to see what my options are. I would prefer to swap in a Magnum 3.9, but I have heard the fuel injection and distributor need to be swapped.


Any suggestions would be appreciated.
