4 speed automatic?
How can I tell if I have a 4 speed auto? I didn't know they were available in 86 until today when the parts counter person brought it up when I was trying to buy a speedometer cable. Would the shift indicator show a 3rd gear or OD position? I have always thought that my truck runs at too high an RPM for a V8 at highway speeds but it only shifts 2 times from takeoff.

I am not a Transmission expert and I did not ever play one on TV, but that being said. I thought the '86 was the 1st year Dodge introduced a 4-speed.
I'm sure a much more knowledgeable SME will stop in and give you a qualified answer.
