78 W400 400CI problems running when warm
Hello all,
ever since i have owned this truck i have had this problem. I recently have needed to use it and it had some other issues i need to address 1st. Hoping as i fixed the other issues this one would get fixed as well. But i was wrong lucky me.
Anyways 1st start of the day fires right up it runs awesome up until i turn it off and operating temp ( 190 degree according to the gauge ) You go and try to restart it wont do anything. If you give it a shot of Ether it fires and will get you to where you need to go but you got to keep the motor running playing with the throttle the whole way home because it will not idle. Let the thing set for a hour or so and cool off the thing starts right back up and runs awesome until it gets warm again.
I have changed a lot of parts from my other issues i was having. Coil, Distributor and cap, plugs, wires, Ignition switch, electronic ignition module, ballast resistor's, Starter solenoid, Fuel pump, fuel filter
What do you guys think?
Thanks for the help
Josh

Sound to me like you got some stuff inside the carburetor. I say overhaul the cabb next and also take care of any vacuum leaks you find, or change out all the old hoses with new. Dont forget to check the brake power booster for a vacuum leak also.
