ram B250 speedo

my ram van B250 has a speedo issue (seems to be an issue with both my cars. lol) its a 1991. most of the time it sits at 100 (as far right as it can sit) and sometimes, out of nowere, it will start "working", however, its not the correct speed, sometimes it 20+ miles off! , then it will go back to doing nothing again, for no reason, cant figure out why.... any ideas?

Ok, I will look around for a cluster then, thanks! Someone else told me to also check the Speedo wire going to tranny, said it could be shouting out on the tranny if the insulation melted, I'm hoping one of the two of you are right!

Yes, had that issue. It was the cluster. Fortunately the one I found was only 750 miles higher than mine!
