Rear 4" hanger kit

I am wanting to lower my 1976 Dodge D100,all the hanger kits say if you have a 1/2 bolt that holds your shackles to your springs,it will not work, saying you have to have a 9/16 bolt ,2 questions, can you just replace your bushings to accept a 9/16 bolt,or do a little welding and make the holes on the kit fit for a 1/2 bolt, has anybody run into this issue,Thanks

I'm guessing if Mopar used 1/2 bolts, they are sufficient. Can you just drill new holes in the existing hangers?
