Tail gate latch help????

Ok guys... any one had the tail gate latch linkage apart on an 86 ish Ram? Mine has not worked since I got the truck and I get tired of going to each side of the bed and releasing the latch individually. Any tips or tricks for re-attaching or if necessary replacing this linkage? Is this even possible? any help would be appreciated!

I believe that the latch uses a simple rod linkage, much like of the lever/handle used to open the doors. The plastic clips may have broken off or the latch itself is broken. You should be able to replace it.

My '81 uses rods that pull on the release lever at the latch which is a flat piece of metal that bends when the latch gets dirty. Release the rods from the clips at the handle then remove the latches. clean and lube them good and bend the lever back into position. Put it back together and it lasts a couple more years before you do it again.
