What the heck are these things?

Hopefully the pics come out alright, I’m trying to chase down a no spark issue and I’m not really looking at these (two boxes) as the culprit, but I sure would like to know what they are. It’s a 1980 W150 and these are on the driver side inner fender and seem to have maybe melted and leaked all over. Anybody able to tell me what they are. This thing is a wiring nightmare. Hard to believe the things people (previous owners) will do.

I don't remember exactly what those are but if I recall they are related to emissions and shouldn't really affect spark. They melt all the time. Was the truck running for you ever or are ya starting from scratch?

I bought the truck and drove it home 100 miles with the steering box about to fall off the frame. Put a redhead box on it to shore that up and have been fixing it up and driving it a little ever since. I always thought the hard starting after sitting a few days was just carb bs but then I started to realize it was spark once it wouldn’t start at all. I had a blaster coil in the house so I redid two of the three wire ends that connected to the coil and threw the blaster in and it started so fast I couldn’t believe it. Ran smooth like never before and I thought I had it but the next morning after sitting in the rain that night it was at it again. Realized the ballast resistor was broken snd again I thought I had it but I replaced it and it still won’t start! Lol. I’ve got a whole Holley sniper fuel injection system and all the associated hyper spark ignition components ready to go on it but I need it to run again to get it to my buddies house that has the lift and the 1985 donor body I’m gonna use. I just ordered a new distributor and ignition module from rock auto because they were so cheap and I’ll use them anyway on the 318 that is in the 85 once I get the four barrel manifold and carb on it from this 80.... I’ve just never been a big old school guy. Lol. But I’m having fun learning and teaching my son some stuff with this project. $2100 for the yellow one and $1200 for the blue one!
