1970 Chrysler Newport

1970 Chrysler Newport 2dr coup
383 cu. in. engine 2.5" full dual exhaust. MP dizzy w/ electronic ignition/orange ECU, Edlebrock AVS 4bbl carb, aluminum performer intake manifold, 383/440 magnum profile cam, MP valve train (push rods, lifters, springs, etc), cloyes roller timing chain & sprocket set, MSD blaster II coil, Derale aux cooling fan, aux trans cooler, Jegs radiator overflow canister. Build date 11/69, purchased from Brooklyn NY Chrysler/Plymouth dealer by original owner. Original owner stopped driving and parked car in 1999. I found car for sale on craigslist in fall 2011 in North Jersey by grand son of original owner.
Not sure about future mods. Aside from having the heads off the 383 has never been apart. It doesn't smoke or knock, and it runs pretty strong. I'll either have it completely rebuilt with stronger goodies or transplant a 440 in its place and build that up. I would like to ditch the standard 383/440 factory exhaust manifolds for hi-performance factory big block Chrysler headers.

Show field participant: Chryslers @ Carlisle 2012, Carlisle PA. Keeping it "bone stock" for originality sake is not my thing. I'm more into the "resto-mod" scene (although you will NEVER see 22's on her), so no haters please. Read more ยป

Don't let her gargantuan girth fool you. This is the view one unsuspecting (AND very very foolish) owner of a shiny 69' Camaro 350 RS got to see on my way back from the city one summer morning. Never in my life have I ever seen a Chevy guy have so much disgust and disappointment on his face...hahahahaha. Imaging your proud pony car outgunned by an old but well kept fleet command ship.

Well kept survivor car. The original owner was a lady who bought it new at a Brooklyn NY Chrysler dealer in 1970. I have all the paperwork and receipts. They were still in the glove compartment when I took ownership. Sadly she is deceased, but I thank her for keeping the car in such good shape and will do my best to keep it that way.
