Disc Brake Conversion for 72 Charger

Disc Brake Conversion for 72 Charger
My apologies in advance for my lack of knowledge. My son has a 1972 Charger and he would like to have at least the front brakes converted to disc, or maybe all four. I want to buy the kit for him for Christmas this year but there is so much information out there that I am not sure where to get all the data needed to buy this. I have been to several websites and they want to know if the existing brakes are power assist or not. I do not know how to answer that. Is there a simple way to look under the hood and figure this out? Also, we are not looking for performance racing brakes. He only has a 360 in there. Could you also recommend a good outlet to buy a basic disc brake conversion kit that would not be too costly? Thanks in advance!
The only real information I have on the vehicle at the moment is that it is a 1972 Charger with a 360 (not the original) engine in it.

Summit racing has the disc brake kit for front and rear for around 1000.00 its a good deal and their return policy is great if some thing was miss-ordered or fails but the kits are specific so you cant loose
just look up the body type on their site its a great tool
and no problem on your lack of knowledge your smart enough to ask for help and thats wisdom
as far as if the vehicle is power brakes look for a big boaster behind the brake master cylinder i will post a picture for you of my brake booster to give you and idea of wat you looking for
but if the car does not have the power brakes you can get the complete kit so no problems

First my own opinion is disks on the rear are a waste. Disks on the front are almost mandatory. Does your son have any mechanical ability ? You can convert to front disks using factory parts (some new/ some used) and have excellent brakes for maybe $300
For a stock type kit www.mpbrakes.com up to very expensive Wildwood Brakes/ Brembo calipers
also www.ssbrakes.com

Perfect
Thank you and yes he intends to install them himself when he gets kit. He is working and saving towards it but I think I will just get it for him. I know he wanted fronts but when I started researching, I saw both front and rear so wasn't sure which way to go. Thank you again for your help. It is greatly appreciated!

Here is a less costly option.
What a great gift! I would be very happy with something like that under the tree. Whatever option you decide to get ask the vendor exactly what rotor and caliper is being used. You want to be able to get over the counter replacement parts for when something needs replacement. Any kit that uses a custom rotor or modified caliper is a pass in my book.

One more place to look at is Scarebird , they offer adapters using common parts but do not sell a kit , , you do need to change the master cylinder or the brakes will drag .
Rear discs are advantageous on cars doing multiple fast stops such as autocross & racing but in street use have minimal advantage
