I'm not sure what you mean by "round" and "square back" but mopar alternaters come in differnt amperage ratings 35, 45, and 60 amps for stock depending on engine size and what toys you want to power. I know they also make 80 and 100amps that will work also. I believe these ratings are stamped on the case just make sure to check if you got one or two field terminals and make sure the new one has the same

I put a sound system in it a few years back. its around a 600 watt amp. I thought my headlights were just bad, but changed them out last year, and still had problem. Another question. Has anyone put led bulbs in replacement of the factory bulbs?? Would like to change out all the bulbs.

If your talking headlights I have never heard of this (then again I never heard of square/round back either) guess I got to get out more but leds would take alot less power and be a he11 of a lot brighter

Dash lights are easy, you got to reach up behind the dash and feel for what feels like a plug. This is the socket that the dash light plugs into. There maybe a few back there I dont know how many you have. AnyWho, rotate that socket 1/4 turn CCW and it comes right out. Replace with a #194 bulb.
As far as the headlights go there is brighter light out there thats even brighter than a halogen. I cant think off hand what its called but its a blue light. Been meaning to look into it myself for the Ram.

I ran a 120 amp Power Master alt in my J10 when I had it. Single wire hook up, and replaced the amp meter that I had (aftermarket) with a volt meter.
Are your headlights/light dimming when the bass hits?

I taped up the connector, ran a wire to the battery and the other to the volt meter.
They come wth pretty detailed instructions. You should probably call up a place like Power Master and tell them what you have. They can probably tell you exactly what to get.
I'd also look into getting a capacitor for your audio. It will help to keep your lights from dimming. Just shop around as they are mostly all the same but can be had for cheap.

He's running a 600 watt audio system so a 1 farad capasitor would be perfect for it. That is what I am actually going to be running in my truck and I have a Rockford T600-2 amp pushing two P3 10" shallow subs in sealed boxes.
