Neutral Safety Switch

Neutral Safety Switch
Can someone please tell me where the neutral safety switch is located on a 1968 Plymouth Fury III?
It is starting in all gears so I guess this is the problem?
Thanks

Not in 1968. It is a single wire switch. Someone could have it jumped out to ground. Your black wire runs to the bottom of the starter relay. Trace it and see where it goes. If someone grounded it that will be your problem.

my 1967 chrysler / imperial factory service manual show a single wire neutral start switch post. the 1967 Dart / Coronet / Charger book shows the same. sorry dont have a 1968 book handy.

I had heard that there was a mid-year change from a 1 to 3 prong switch for model year 1968. I have an early build '68 Sport Fury Convertible and it has a single prong (for what it's worth).

Thanks for the responses guys. this is my first time trying to fix a problem like this, so I need a bit of clarification. where is the starter relay located and where exactly should the black wire run to? do I need to take the steering column or anything apart to get to the neutral safety switch or fix this problem?
in your opinion is this likely to be the reason it is starting in all gears?
FYI build month is May 1968.
Thanks in advance.

All Mopar starter relays work the same until a very late change when an additional terminal was added. Stick cars up to '70 had three terminals, Stick cars 70 / later and all automatic cars have 4 terminals.
The great big stud / nut is the battery connection "junction" and is ALSO one contact of the relay switch
The smaller bare "square" screw is the second relay contact and goes to the starter solenoid
The one (on a stick) or two (auto) "push on" connectors are the relay coil
One of those, traditionally yellow, comes from the key "in start" through the bulkhead to either "push on" terminal
The remaining "push on" terminal goes down the firewall, over the top of the transmission, and to the neutral safety switch on the transmission. It grounds in park or neutral.
