01 5.9l distributor issues
I broke the screws off the distrib cap trying to do a cap removal. they just twisted off. Decided to take out the dist to see if the screws could be extracred. after deciding to just replace it I went to Autozone and picked up the only distributor listed. it doesn not fit? it wont seat. took that one back. went to Advanced auto, bought their dist, same part no and all, it does not seat in the hole either.
my origional just drops right in?
any ideas?

Depending on how the slot is aligned with the gear on the dizzy, it will only fit two ways. The right way and 180* out. You may need to try and rotate the rotor a little while dripping it in. Just be mindful of where the old one was so that the new one will drop in the same way.

has not5hing to do with the slot.
the base collar that sits in the intake manifold on my distributor is machined smoothe. the replacement cardoza's and the rest of them, that re remans , all the 30-3801 part number are not machined collars. even though mopar, and all the rest of the remans all call for no choice of distributor.
Napa, on the other hand has the exact match. it is also 60-70 bucks more.
The dealer had the superceeded number and the national discontinued part information in their parts list.
its very intering that is almost like 2 different distributor choices, not one!

Is this what you have? If so, oil the o ring, then with the number 1 cylinder at tdc aim the rotor at INTAKE Manifold 1 ( not the cylinder ) It will be a tight fit.
Use very fine sand paper to clean any machining slat of the male end of the shaft that may keep it from seating. Check the old one to make sure none of the old shaft material is left behind preventing the seating.
Take the old dizzy and transfer the pink or white dot on just above the upper collar onto the new dizzy exactly. The dizzy rotation controlls fuel sync, not advance and the dots are for assembly. You need a Snap ON 2500 or equivalent to set sync.
