Hi everyone! I'm starting a restification of my 74 RR. It stared life as a 318 car with nothing really special about it so factory correct is not an issue. Picked it up after a soft rollover for a song. Solid chassis but it will still need some work, and obviously a roof! Looking forward to the great pool of experience that is out there, and maybe have something of my own to contribute someday. Thanks.

oh man they love it when they put the thumb down on you. we went to columbus lookin for a freinds house ounce. got into a sub division, drove around for 20 min. finally , I looked at my wife and said ,im gonna stop at this gas station up here quick. she says what for, I says well obviously Im lost, and need help.you know, she was a sweatheart the rest of the day. so i go into the station, a womans at the counter talking to another female freind, she says can I help you? I says, yes maam you can, im a man and Im here to tell you im lost and need help in directions. her and the freind look at each other their mouths dropped open they looked back at me and it took a minute for her to answer me, she told me where to go, a guys standing in line behind me, as i turn to leave he looks at me shakes his head, and frowns at me like, you just blew it man. i just laugh when I think of that.

Thanks for the laugh. Hows things in Indiana these days? Pretty gloomy up here for us Chrysler workers. If things go ****-up we'll have to relocate. Nothing up here but McJobs anymore.

just about the same, we have 4 chrysler plants cose to me, kokomo ,IN, trans plants, theyre shuting down a few of them, not alot out here, but if you do relocate, as long as chry-co stays float theyre gonna need transmissions, I work for g.m. at a truck assmb. plant here. were still working, but I heard that a truck plant in pontiacs due for the cutter, I hope not but ,I see it coming, have for awhile. I just dont see alot of people buying a new car when the jobs are being cut and still are. I dont think that the dealerships are helping things ither, when you buy a new car for 25k then 2 yrs later take it back to roll over, they give you 12 k for it, then resell it for 15,600. thats crap. I can understand making money but to cut person like that, and for us employees, at a g.m. dealer, we get wholesale peice on purchase, when we take it back they giv us whole sale trade in, but then make retail sale on, it. that doenst bother me till you look at the fact that they make 5% from g.m. for handling the paperwork for the sale, and they get their money back from them also for their initial purchase of the car.. so they make 5% for the sale and dont loose any money, then when you trade it in , they make money on the trade, then they make money on it again, when they sell it at high retail to the next guy cause its 1 yr. old w/ 7k miles on it. and if it wasnt for us building the cars they wouldnt have an income , then they stick us like that.

I hear ya, I work at the Avenger/Sebring plant in Sterling Hts. Been there 10 years and still cant afford a new car. "I Have three kids and no money! Why can't I have three monies and no kids?"-Homer. Not that one..I meant Simpson! Didn't I read in another post that you had to sell a 69 RR? I've got a 86z-28 and a 53 Harley project I need to sell to keep the house going. Been laid-off most of this year. Only work I've done on the bird is elbow grease and nothing more expensive than sandpaper. Have the replacement roof that I bought a few years ago, but need to do some more learnin before I try to tackle that one. Good Luck out there brother. UAW = U Aint Working!

Thats just the tip of it. Its 17.5% unemployment in my county. We know half a dozen families in foreclosure now. People beggin for jobs at wally mart. Sad. You can see and feel the gloom. In the last recession people knew things would rebound one day. Now, not so sure if the industry will ever recover. It's the limbo thats the worst. If they pull the pin on the whole thing, at least we can move foreward.
