Hey guys I'm new to the forum just curious about how my engine is reacting.
I have a 71' Newport with a 383
Carb and intake are thr only engine mods.
Dash bezel reads hot constantly even when car is cold, but also ocationally cold flashes up as well.. but when I press the throttle it fades away.
Once car is running and I get up to about 55-60 MPH car seems to bogg down and lose power, It spudders as if its trying to catch up with itself. I tried flooring the throttle in that instance and the motor has no reaction to full throttle it go silent. Must come to complete stop for motor to regain its power back so I can properly accelerate.
Any ideas!?!?!?!

Welcome, Did you change the fuel filter maybe junk in there just floating around.Just a guess. I had a similar problem, but would loose power when it got hot and when it had a chance to cool off-well it would be fine for awhile. I had to change my coil and that did the trick for me.

Welcome!
I wouldn't think that the two issues are related but then again, stranger things have happened. Did you install a new temperature sensor? Did you install new fuel filters (usually there is on between the tank and pump and another between the pump and carb)? Have you tested coil or ballast resistor? What intake and carb did you install? does the car sputter only at those speeds? Does it do it at lower speeds when the car is warmed up (city driving)?

D200,
Itts edlebrock 650 Carb and eldebrock intake, yes I did install temp guage. New fuel filter by the Carb guess I should replace the other one... and ballast and coilsvno? What is the cost of new ones and is there a specific brand keyed to mopar? And yes only at those speed does the utter happen...but once it happens it does it at lower speeds until I come to a complete stop
