New to mopar

Ok so about a month ago I bought a 1979 d100 with a 318 in it. I've slowly been putting new parts on it and getting it going. My problem is it was a ex military truck and I can't find much info on it anybody know where I can find more about what it was doing in the military etc. ? I've already tried doing a vin search all it showed me was where it was made etc

The military had quite a few mopars back in the day, I've seen quite a few Dodge pickups that were ex military.

its a standard cab short bed if it had anything else on it its long since been taken. The truck has been fairly molested but from what I found on the vin it was a stock slant 6 it has a 318 in it.

Oh Nice... So it doesn't have all the drive by night switches drilled into the dash and a bunch of 24 volt wiring and duel alternators under the hood...
Sounds like a nice little project in that case... Do you know what service platform it was in? Could of just been a local around the base truck?
Reason I ask, where i work we have a few of those. We have a Dodge Van from an Air Force base, MRAP from the Army, Momba from the United Nations, GM 4X4 Pick up from the Army, and so on and so forth....

Question Piston heads Are hitting the Crank.

So I’ve torn apart my 318 and have all new parts, got it machined, ect. Just tried putting the Pistons in, torqued them down and when i rotated the crank they are hitting on the crank when they’re at the bottom of the cylinder bore. I only did pistons 1 and 2 if that helps with anything.
