The Legend Lives Tour will be a weeklong madcap run across Route 66 in honor of the 1968 Steve McQueen movie “Bullitt”.

The Legend Lives Tour is a lead in event to draw participants nationally to attend the annual Friends of Steve McQueen Show (separate registration is required for this show if you plan to attend) Registration for the car show can be done via their website at www.stevemcqueencarshow.com

Both the Legend Lives Tour and the Friends of Steve McQueen Show are partnering to support The Boys Republic of Chino Hills, CA.

Boys Republic is a private, nonprofit, nonsectarian school and treatment community for troubled youngsters. Since its founding in 1907, it has guided more than 28,000 at-risk teenage boys and girls toward productive, fulfilling lives. On its central school and farm in Chino Hills, California, and in residential and day treatment centers in other communities, Boys Republic and its companion program, Girls Republic, help children in desperate need find within themselves the resources and skills to begin meaningful lives on their own. Why the connection between Bullitt and Boys Republic?
Steve McQueen is an integral part of the Bullitt heritage. As a Hollywood actor, Steve’s persona became legendary as the iconic cool tough guy. Steve also happened to be a student at Boys Republic in his youth. Boys Republic philosophy is to teach self reliance, and as such, they can point to Steve McQueen as one of their model success stories.

The McQueen Foundation, through Steve’s son Chad, continues to support Boys Republic. In Steve’s honor, HoonDog Events will be leading the parade cross country to Chino Hills where Chad McQueen will be hosting the Friends of Steve McQueen Show…

Please note these are charitable events to support Boys Republic. While registering, take a moment to consider making a tax deductable donation to Boys Republic. Various donation levels are offered, but, for $100 donations made to Boys Republic from our Legend Lives registration, Friends of Steve McQueen will provide free registration for their show (you would not need to register with Friends of Steve McQueen in this case, free registration would be for the car entry, driver, and one passenger. Additional passengers would be $10 extra payable at the show. You will receive separate registration confirmation from Friends of Steve McQueen). Therefore, we are encouraging all participants to make at least a $100 donation to Boys Republic…that represents only 5 cents per mile of the tour, but together we can make a huge difference in the lives of children in need. When you receive your registration package, we will be sending information explaining how you can encourage your family, friends or work place to help sponsor your Route 66 run on behalf of Boys Republic.

For anyone interested in joining this event, it will truly be a once in a lifetime "Bullitt" event. Can't imagine a better way to see Route 66 than reliving a classic chase, running down some Mustangs!

But, for those who can't make the 66 run, any locals in the SoCal area may want to at least attend the Friends of Steve McQueen Show in Chino Hills to benefit the Boys Republic.
Chad McQueen will be turning the campus into a streets of San Francisco scene, including a diorama of a 68 stang and Charger in a chase scene.
A couple of restored 68 Chargers will be in attendance, including the recently restored Bullitt movie Charger that was seen at SEMA last November.
