sb727 tail shaft swap

I have a 76 D200 318/727. The 727 pours fluid out of the bell housing. Replaced the front seal..did'nt help. I have a chance to get a 727 out of a 74 dodge motorhome, but the tail shafts are different. (slip in yoke on mine, bolt on u joint on the motorhome). can I just swap the tailshafts, if so whats involved?
Thanks

I would look at the converter very carefully, you will probably find it is cracked between the notches where it goes into the transmission. I have had this happen to me more than once.

There is more to it than you might think, it'll be much more work to replace the tail shaft and housing than it would be to properly repair your old transmission. It's always possible that the seal you installed was not installed properly, or was damaged to begin with. You need to make sure there are no sharp edges on the converter snout, and that you install the converter while holding it as level as you can.
