Question Converter problems...

I have a 1961 polara that I'm restoring and I just got a new 383, thats what the factory listed the car as having, but on closer inspection the original turned out to be a 361. This is rather problemattic as the crankshaft rear flange is a 6 bolt on the 383 but the original torque converter is an 8 bolt to match the 361. I believe the tranny is an a488 but as it was made late in 1961 it could be an a727. Could anyone help me identify my transmission and if it is an a488 help me find a torque converter? I will post all the numbers I can find on it tomorrow, but when I googled them nothing came up. Thanks for any help you can provide.

61 would be a Powerflite or possibly a cast iron torqueflite

I think its a cast torqueflite, thanks, and the numbers off the tranny body 1854220-10 and off the bellhousing 1736436, the last number in the second could be a 5 not a 6, I'm not exactly sure.
