In need of Help.... 73 duster stroker
Ok after finding out my head gaskets were leaking on my 408. I took them to the machine shop and they are back, I went with sce copper head gaskets. They reccommended that I retorque my edelbrock heads after a few hours of run it. How the heck do I do that with the header flange in the way? I have 2 unbolt the motor and half the front end 2 get headers off at the very lest. Should I just cutt the header flange between the head bolts??? or???? do I really have 2 retorque? any advice is advice and I will do well with it

the machine shop is telling you what you should do. if you pull out the torsion bars will you be able to angle the headers to get at the bolts? you don't have many choices with a tight fit you have. i would not cut the header flange. the only other way to do this would be to have someone run the engine on a dyno or in a different car..

Alum heads should be retorqued after running them a little bit. The alum expands and contracts and in doing so will need to be retorqued. I'd hate to say this, but it looks like you will have some work ahead of you.

Looks like your only choices are, tear it down and re-torque, or don't re-torque, and tear it down for a rebuild...
IMO, re-torque is much less costly...
