need help with this noise
Okay so when I'm going down the road or the interstate with 3 or more people in it and you hit a bump it makes this horrific sound, it sounds like it is grounding out? Me and my dad looked at it and you could see that the left rear tire was wore on the outside, and we looked up at the wheel well and it was shiny silver. So that I think is where the sound it coming from. We got my new struts in yesterday and put both of them in and it didnt make a difference, and it still makes the same noise. What else could be wrong with it?
It has 17" wheels but that shouldnt make a difference because the 1999 dodge avenger model I have came with them out of the factory?

The bolt pattern is 5x114.3 with an offset of +42. I am going to get these, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...DWatching...so do you think with a smaller offset it will stop making that noise?

Could have a broken or worn out bushings or suspension componant. If it is the factory wheels, or a whel with the same specs, then maybe the tire is taller than stock. There should be a sticker on the door that tell you what size tire, what size wheel, and at what PSI to run the tires at.

That is the tire size and rim size that should be on the car. If you have 17" wheels, they could be from another vehicle or aftermarket. 205/55R16 is ~24.9" tall tire. If you are running a taller tire, on a larger wheel, that could be the reason why it is rubbing. I would also look at the spare and see the size of that tire. Usually they are the same height as a change in height on the drive axle would break the tranny on a FWD car.

is there a way you could send a picture of the struts in the rear and where it is hitting with the tire in place .... a picture would help us determin more of what your problem would be
