Transmission Identification
Just bought '72 Challenger that came with pulled transmission, but I have no idea what the hell it is or if it will even bolt to my 440.
On top of the transmission it says "900-4" in several different places and then on the side it says "2466900". I have googled both of these numbers and have been able to pull up nothing.
Then above the pan there is the numbers "H2538334". I googled this and found a guy selling his Cuda with a 727 that had this number but it was for a 380.
If this is indeed a 727, will it work with my 440?
Is it a 727 A or B? (not sure of the difference)

The distance between the two, top bolt holes on the trans will tell you. The distance on an small block 727 is 7-3/4 in, and a BB 727 is 6-1/2 in. Dont confuse them with a dowel pin hole.
