B&M Shift Improver Kit

Does anyone have any experience with the B&M Shift Improver Kit #10225 for the 1971-77 a-727(V-8). I bought one and have already had to call the help line to get the full set of instructions, the ones that came in the kit were missing half of the illustrations. I want to put the kit in my 75 Scout II with the street/strip set up. The problem I am having is that the set up calls for the removal of one of five 1/4" steel check ***** in the valve body. The instructions do not indicate which one of them needs to be removed, it says #4 but it dose not number them in the illustration or give any other information on where the ball is. Can anyone help me please? Thanks.

I think that is the same kit I got and installed, will see if I can find the instructions for you. Also may try to see if they have them on their website.

Thanks, I checked the web site, wasn't too impressed with it. If you can find anything on it I would appreciate it. I have a lift reserved on Saturday, Ive grown tired of working on transmissions on the ground.

I just looked in the house couldn't find it, but it should be in the box in the shed, will look tomorrow. I know this may not help you now but I used the book, "Torqueflite A-727 Transmission Handbook" by Carl H. Munroe, great resource and lots of pics.

When I did mine I was replacing the engine and had everything out of the car, much easier.

Thanks for looking anyway. I already have that book, it was a life saver when I rebuilt the transmission. It has some information on installing a trans-go kit. I forget what I paid for it, but what ever it was, it was well worth it! If no one else can help ill consult it, but I'm going to try some local transmission shops tomorrow at lunch.

This is the illustration that goes along with the check ***** but there is no indication of which one is number 4, the one one I need to leave out, If I had to guess I would believe that they are numbered clockwise starting form the top left, in that case i would need to leave out the bottom left? But I don't know for sure, Please help!

Because of a lack of anything to do until the drag race starts I pulled the scout across a ditch and took a look inside the transmission to see if i could get it to go in rev. The low reverse servo has failed, there were pieces of it lying in the pan, I also discovered the throttle valve was bound and not moving, could this have anything to do with no third gear, the same 1/2 shift regardless of how hard I am standing on it, and could this have caused the rear servo to fail. Also I have found a billet replacement servo would this hold up longer?

I called the help line again and got the info I was looking for, I fixed the transmission today. Man this thing works great, I still need to do some adjustment on the throttle linkage. Thanks for the help!
