Cant figure where this rearend came from any help?

I ran down to Ill and picked up a cheap rearend. The guy advertised it as a b body rearend true posi. So I gave him a call and asked for some spec's. He said he measured the perches at 47.25 and the # on the housing was 2070741 so I said cool I'll be down. Thinking it's perfect for my 73 charger to replace the 8 1/4 I knocked out again...
When I got there I grabbed the yoke wiggled it and it was free and no slop (perfect) then simply threw it in the back of the truck and took off for home. I havent pulled the center section yet-to lazy, cars in storage, I just measured the perches it comes up 46 dead center and 56.5 to the flanges. Soooo I called him back he thinks it came out of a 64 or 65 Polara he doesnt know which. He said the car was a rust bucket and stripped it.
My question is? What is it ? It doesn't seem to measure out to either car. Any idea's?

It is a B body rear end but, it is from a PRE 1971 B body. In 1971 mopar
WIDENED the rear-end width in the B- Bodies. So the earlier (pre '71) will not have the same measurements. Actually, the rear out of a challenger (70-74) is a closer fit. Just a tad narrower.

Thanks

However the measurements dont jive with that. If it's a pre 71 b body it would be 44" at the perches, 55" at the flanges and 12.35 at centerline.
Mine is 46" at perches, 56.5" at the flanges and 11.69 at centerline.
Or em I missing something?

believe or not, some very ealry 60's chryslers had narrow rears. (imperials even)
Let me look through my old mopar chassis manual. All I know for sure is that the 71+ b bodies had wider rears that were a little bit wider that the E body ones. I sold a friend of mine a challenger rear that he sucsessfully installed in his 74 satellite. It gave him about an extra 3/8 - 1/2 inch clearance.

I just looked up those specs and they do indeed come up to the same specs as a '70-74 E body rear as far as the spring perch and the flange to flange. The axle to CL of U-joint is off though but you did say that it has a center section and the last three digits are 741 so that must mean that it is a chally or cuda rear and is an 8 3/4. Great find if that's what it is!

A 64 rear end would have the removeable flanges on the axle shafts I believe.
