59' Plymouth Belvedere Reverse problem???

I have a 59' Belvedere with the powerflite transmission. When I put it in reverse, it's really rough and makes a loud noise! Any ideas what it could be? Maybe rear end needs oil, or maybe reverse band? Please help. Is the reverse band an easy fix? Thanks

Sometimes these push button transmisions will not disengage from drive when attempting reverse. If this is your problem its a bad cable or Cable adjustment.

Sorry, I had a typo in the post, it's Reverse that has the problem. Neutral and Drive are fine.

It still could be a cable issue

You think it can be a cable issue even though the problem is only in reverse?
