1970 dodge truck paint job help
Hi, so this is my first post on this forum and i was wondering if someone with some auto body knowledge and experience could give me some advice. I have a 1970 dodge powerwagon truck that i would like to get painted. I don't have the time to do the body work my self or the desire to do so. The truck doesn't have any major dents, only minor dings. There is rust in the usual places, (both rockers, cowl). So i started calling around town and was first quoted $10000 to do a full paint job inside and out. I also forgot to mention the truck has been sandblasted. I was wondering if that price is correct. From browsing forums it seems like $4000-$5000 would be a more suitable price range. Joe.

Every shop is different. Also every job is different. I run a restoration business and that sounds pretty correct from what your telling me because of all the rust. I usually run cheaper but thats because my shop rate is half of the normal shop rates. Just did rust/body/paint on a 70 Torino and it ran him around 7500 just for reference. Where are you located?

Im in spokane, WA. So i talked to one of the shops and they said they could maybe lower the price to $8500 if i repaired the rust my self. I don't know if i should even bother considering the truck would only be worth about $8000 on a good day. I guess its just primer for me

It all depends on location, how much work can be seen and what they don't see and are trying to plan for. Some shops are cool and are willing to work with you too. If you strip the truck how they want and do some of the work yourself, the price will go down.
Did you bring the truck to them for them to look it over or just show them pictures and talk to them about it?

I emailed the shop pics and talked over the phone. I also had another shop ask me to finish sandblasting the truck and then take in pics of it. That shop was much more helpful and might give a better price I'm thinking.
