offset v8 ?

i put a 383 into my aussie 69 vf ute ( basically a dart pick up ) i never noticed till after the engine was in , but my sump and carb are not in the middle it's off to right side of the car that would be your passenger side or our driver's side . i was told that was to miss your steering box & valiant never changed it although our steering box is on the opposite side ?
so are you engine's off to the passenger side ? thanks

Hey DK every bb you look at is off some what to the right , my guess is that you are right about the steering box so does that mean that yours should be off to the left alittle ? if not how close is it to hitting , cant say that i have even ever seen a right sided steering wheel

well i bought engine mounts to suit mopar big blocks to our valiants with std v8 k frame . everything bolted in std bolt holes . BUT bell housing was touching gearbox tunnel ( we chopped that ) engine was tilting forward & to right ( your passenger side ) that was because of high volume oil pump so we notched the the k frame tower . then we noticed the engine was off to your passenger side i almost lost it , we rang a mopar dude and he told about steering box ect ect and said even yours are off . all so my right ride extractors are touching the fender wall oh well i 'll sort that out when we yank out the 383 for the 440 crank . yeah our extractors have to fit between the steering collumn , steering box , block , pan , chassis and that fat 727 . the spark plugs & leads are another topic hahaha ah mopar or no car . cya guys

guess thats the down side of having a monster of an engine in such a small car it takes me about an hour and half just to change my spark plugs i also had to rerout two tubes on my headers to get my 440 to fit just right but if you ever look at a big block in a mopar 99.9% of the time the engine is to the right and the tail shaft of the trans is somewhat to the left, guess the engineneers know what they are doing right hehehe
