1973 dodge power wagon
I recently just acquired this truck and I cannot get the truck to turn over from the key I put a remote starter tool on and got the engine to turn over. It's a 4 speed manual and it's got a 360 in it. I am terrible with wiring and just kinda need a point in the right direction thank you

Easy. You should have a starter relay somewhere under the hood that looks like this
http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/k...arterRelay.jpg
The largest top stud is a junction for the battery and also is one relay contact
The mating relay contact is the "square" terminal and feeds down to the starter solenoid. I'm assuming here (yellow arrows) are where you hooked up the remote.
Does yours have a clutch safety switch? If so, you will have two more connectors, as shown, if not, only one more.
One of the "push on" terminals is start voltage coming from the key
Second one goes to clutch safety switch and is grounded when you depress the clutch.
So to troubleshoot, first make sure truck is in neutral.
Take a screwdriver and jumper across the two large terminals (yellow arrow) and engine should crank.
If so, now disconnect ONE of the push on terminals and check with a meter or test lamp for power when twisting the key to "start" Check both "push on" wires
Which ever wire is hot in "crank" (probably yellow) is your start wire. HOOK this back up to the relay.
Now take a clip lead and ground the remaining terminal of the relay. If it will not crank, replace the relay. If it does crank, it's in the clutch safety circuit.
If so, up to you whether to fix the switch, or just ground that terminal. I'm not "big" on clutch switches.
Now if you DO get power from the start wire, and when grounding the second terminal and twisting the key, if it will not crank, replace the relay. These were the same for years and years, except mounting brackets.
If you only have ONE push on terminal, then the truck never had a clutch safety switch.
