No I went with just a gloss black on the air cleaner. Some of the other stuff will be flat black and gloss black though.

And the wire wheel is how I have been cleaning everything so far. Its works great , but I am really gonna need the sandblasting thing.

 

Got the blast thingy almost done. Had to stop to watch the ending of Battlestar Galactica. OMG OMG OMG!!!

Back to the car stuffs. Here is what I have so far. Yes I know the caulk is messy as hell. I went for air tight over pretty on this thing. Also I figure its gonna get bashed around and look a mess in a few weeks anyway. So yeah, its a mess. Should be strong as a rhino though. More to cone on the morrow when I get the gloves all in.

Was working on my DIY projector for most of the day, so not a whole lot to post about. I did get the glove holder things cut to shape. I am going to sew up the extensions on the glove tomorrow and put it all together and test it then. But for now here are the only pics I have:

 

Well the blast cabinet is 99.999% done. I got the wrong air fitting so I can't hook it up and test it yet. Plus it is POURING rain here. So testing will be as soon as the rain lets up.

I did a double stitch on the glove extensions. They are made of BLACKOUT cloth. You can get it at a fabric store. It is sorta plastic on one side, and does not let anything through. So good for sand and other media. I then used balloons to round out the extensions. Then rolled the gloves back a bit and sprayed them both with adhesive. Rolled the gloves over them and let dry. Then with stretched them over the drain flanges I got and screwed it to the box. DONE!!!

Just wanted to add a quick update.

Sorry for not posting anything for a few days. Pulled my groin muscle, and what do you know, I can't do a whole lot around here. So I am resting and recovering. Still doing some ordering and research online. So I will have stuff to post about in a another week or so. Just wanted to let everyone know I had not forgotten to post.

ha I love that cabinet. We made our own too out of some leftover lumber and some plexiglass. Works pretty well

I am back on my feet again. Granted a bit slow, and I am under doctors orders not to lift anything over 5 lbs. But hey, I can paint and strip parts right?

So starting tomorrow morning I will be grinding away and sand blasting the crap out of some parts. Just wanted to post cause I am stoked!

You do nice work! It is a good approach to set small attainable goals so you don't feel overwhelmed. I imagine that being comfprtable with the metal work and welding etc will really come in handy. Great project!

Well after many months of weirdness here, I am back to the grind!!! Me and my buddy Animal got a TON of stuff done today. We stripped the original Dart. All that is left is the engine block and tranny. The floor of the original one is damn near gone. There is about 2 square feet of good metal left. Check the pics for just how bad it was. Yeah, the whole thing is rusted. That is why we got a donor car to put everything from the rusted on onto. Its gonna take a hella lot of work, but it will be worth it when we get through.

 

That is one hell of a project. I cant wait to see it done.

 

Well we got a lot done this week. We are taking a short break due to the weather getting HORRID! We had not been done putting up the tools for 15 minutes and the tornado sirens went off and we had to run out in high winds and take the gazebo thing down. Not a fun shore in the rain and 35-45MPH winds. But we got the old Dart cut down, and moved into the back yard so we can work on stripping anything else off of it and cutting it for scrap.

BTW, my buddy Animal is the guy in the photos. When we got the rear cut off, he grabbed it and flipped it over by himself. Didn't really even grunt when he did it. Just up and over. I am kicking myself for not getting a video of it for all you guys that know how damn heavy those things are. ((The wheels, axle, and gas tank where all still on it!))

Yeah, we are due for snow later this week. SO the prgress is on hold for the time being. Just as we were getting all warmed up and moving on this project. LOL

Anyway, we are going to be welding the new floor-pans into the other Dart at some point in the next week. Also we are going to try to get the engine bay in the new Dart squared away and tucked.

Can someone tell me the name for when the firewall is smooth? I am having a brain fart on what that is called?

 

O.K. After much work on my buddies car we are back to full swing on the Dart! Right now I am working on getting the front disc conversion done. I have a few questions for you guys and girls.

1. Should the conversion kit come with new spindles? Or do I use the old ones?

2. If I dont have the spindles can you buy just the spindles? If so where?

3. Does anyone know of a good write up for doing the conversion?

The reason I ask is because I got the stuff from a guy who was going to use it on his resto, but got cancer and sold me the parts to use on mine. I am not sure that I have everything. Any help would be great. I am going to run and nurse the two cuts and the HUGE blood blister I got today.
