My Belvedere has four wheel drum and single res. master cyl. which works pretty good for around home, but last year I did do some interstate driving and had to plan stops (car doesn't stop good at 75 mph). This year I'm planning on running Hot Rod's power tour form Newton IA to Springfield IL and would like to install a power brake booster and daul res. master cyl. Is there a newer car out there I can get used parts from or should just buy a kit from someone. I would like to leave the drums brakes on the car for now, just to cut down on some cost. Any help will be great and Thank You Mitch.

 

My 67 Belvedere has the dual reservoir master cylinder and drums all the way around. Looking at parts places online, these new master cylinders are easily available for well under $100.

I'd drive your car over to the local auto parts dealer and compare the bolt patterns side by side. Alot of parts are interchangeable for 66 and 67 B bodies, so that is where I would start, personally.

 

well this i a good subject that comes up alot.
Short answer; '73-'76 A=body with disc brakes (believe it or not).
'73-'74 E-body with disc
Other option (with some controversy) Any F- M - J disc setup

Controversy; these (F-M-J) cars had taller spindles and some say that they should not be used but many others have used them with no problem.

Reality: a bodies are getting hard to find and the F-M-J are still somewhat easy to find (think Volare,Aspen, Diplomat all the way up til the end in '87)

My suggestion. Use the Volare or diplomat (etc) brakes but use them in conjunction with the tubular upper control arms from Firm Feel Inc.
These control arms are made with the different variations in mind.
Thet are also relatively cheap in price and very good in quality. A great deal. Just my .02, Enjoy!

 

the power booster and master will also work from the above.

 

Thanks for the help, if I use the booster and master cyl without the brake valve will it work with my current four wheel drum brakes? I would like to do the front disc sometime, but not alot of time or money at this point in time and was hoping to make what I have a little better anyway.
